  Kodachadri is a beautiful hillstation situated at around 400 km from Bangalore.
The height of the hill is 1343 m above sea level.
    The picturesque landscape all around the hill is awesome.

   Adi-Mookambika temple at Kodachadri village is believed to be the moola sthana (the origin) of Sri Mookambika Devi (Kolluru Mookambike).

  The jeep can take you till the Adi-mookambika temple. To reach the top you need to climb atleast 1 km up the hill from where you can watch an amazing sunset and beautiful panoramic view of the Mookambika Abhayaranya (dense rain forest).

  You will find 'Sarvajna peetha' of  Sri Shankaracharya at the top where he did the meditation.

    Famous Kannada movie 'Galipata' has been shot here.

       One Guest House is there at near the temple where you can book the room earlier. Even you can stay at the 'Bhatra mane'  with a reasonable rate. Food is also available there (You need to tell them earlier).

     The road till the top is horrible!! It is very difficult to take your private vehicle up the hill unless it has 4 wheel drive and u are an expert driver! Taking bike there is thrilling. Dont dare to try it ..!
     They will charge around 1000 to 1200 rs per trip for jeep which is worth giving if you are not able to trek.

 Kollur is another place you can cover which is only 20 km from Kodachadri.

    For trekkers another hill beside Kodachadri is there which has a beautiful waterfalls called 'Arisinagundi'. It is a one day trek.

   post monsoon season that is october to january would be ideal time to go but be aware of leaches and take precautionary measures.

Route :
Bangalore--->Shimoga--->Hosanagara--->Nagara--->Sampekatte--->Nittur---> Kodachadri.

  You can hire jeeps at Sampekatte,Nittur as well as in Kollur to reach the top.

     If you are going for a trekk then, get down at Kareghatta ( around 7 kms from Nittur towards Kollur) walk around 5 km to reach the bottom of the hill. Start the trek.
